Mooncake nostalgia

Mid-Autumn Festival (ä¸ç§‹èŠ‚) normally falls on September. September is a very significant month for Reformasi. It reminds me of the days in the beginning of the struggle.
In 2000, I wrote an article, “Mooncake and Reformasi” which was was published on 12 September. On that night, Reformasi supporters gathered in the house of Dr Wan Azizah. The children led by Wan Azizah’s daughters carried lanterns for a short pocession around Bukit Damansara. The children had a lot of fun. There was joy albeit in the midst of bitter struggle.
The bright full moon in the Mid-Autumn Festival connotes family reunion or unity. Since September 1998, the Mid-Autumn Festival has been part of many people’s life, as they avowed to strive for the reunion of Anwar’s family; and symbolically, the reunion of our nation.
