Protest Against Burmese Junta
Sep 18th, 2006 by Tian
My Burmese friends sent me a sms this morning. A group of young Burmese activists who are affiliated to the Malaysian chapter of National League of Democracy (NLD) would be demonstrating in front of Burmese/Myanmar embassy at about 10.30hr.
18 September is a date to commemorate. The military junta took power 18 years ago. In 1988, the military staged a coup after the series of mass uprising.
Many of the Burmese migrant workers were participants of the democratic struggle in 1980s and 1990s. They continue to commit to the struggle although they are living in exile.

This peaceful demonstration was attended by some 30 to 40 Burmese activists. The place was under heavy monitoring of the police. Luckily there was no arrest or violence against the protesters. The group dispersed peacefully.

impressive…
All the best to all the Burmese.
keep it going!!!
One day you will be heard and that one day shall come.
