The True Malaysia’s National Day
Sep 18th, 2006 by Tian
Parti KeADILan sole ADUN Dominique Ng led a small group of supporters to celebrate 16 September National in Kuching (see report in KeADILan Sarawak website). However the activity was not endorsed as an official event in Sarawak. The Chief Minister of Sarawak was totally silent and no ceremony was held on this historical day. (also read Malaysiakini)
Meanwhile on the other side of Borneo, Najib was celebrating 16 September in Kota Kinabalu. Strangely why only in Sabah we officially commemorated this date. It is odd that the other states of Malaysia did not even notice this important day.
A report in The Star (Sunday September 17, 2006) titled: “Sabahans brave heavy rain for Merdeka fiesta†read:-
KOTA KINABALU: A downpour and a brief blackout failed to deter the patriotic fervour of Malaysians who braved the elements to usher a spectacular end to the month long 49th Merdeka celebrations.
Interestingly, one should wonder why only Sabahans felt patriotic on September 16, what happened to the rest of the nation?
