Kg Chubadak at T-junction: Rozlan’s place
Rozlan’s land at the T-junction of Kg Chubadak and Taman Pelangi (along Karak Highway towards Jalan Bandar Dalam) was threatened with demolition again. Earlier, Rozlan has gone to meet with a few government agencies including Land Department. Finally, a delay was granted pending the reply to his appeal from the PM Department.
In fact during the stand-off at Taman Dato Senu yesterday I was warned by some sympathetic TNB workers that they had received notice of demolition operation at Rozlan’s place. I told this to Rozlan, he was rather confident that his place would be ok.
As I was leaving for Cameron, unexpectedly at 10am I received a call from him just before hitting the road. Rozlan told me that a squad of DBKL and other agencies personnel had arrived to demolish the buildings.
Following my car were Pei Nei and Teck Hai. So we turned back towards Karak Highway to have a look. By then, the bulldozer was parked right in front of the shops. Rozlan and a group kampung folks were arguing with DBKL enforcers. Rozlan tried reasoning to DBKL officers that letters of appeal had been sent to Land Office and PM.
Finally we convinced the chief of DBKL team to delay the operation pending for the reply from JPM. DBKL agreed to give us another week and called off the demolition operation.
We are safe for the time being, but not for long. As we were chatting, the people asked why the double standard? The mansion of Zakaria was illegal, not approved by council regulation yet it stands unscratched despite widespread public protests.
Yes, while our Malay heroes gathered at PWTC shouting “Agenda Melayuâ€, waving keris defending Malay dignity, one more Malay village is about to be wiped out from the map.
