Assembly for Press Freedom
Nov 26th, 2006 by Tian
Parti Keadilan Rakyat organized a demonstration to highlight the repressed press freedom in Malaysia. The gathering was attended by over 200 people, including representatives of NGOs and political parties.
For us, greater press freedom also mean space for all voices to be heard. Until today, Party Keadilan Rakyat is still denied a permit to publish our official paper Suara Keadilan. By constricting news and viewpoints from opposition parties, the people are deprived of the rights to alternative information. Voters cannot exercise an informed choice in election. Democracy is hence empty of its true meaning.
