Azmin assaulted
Jan 20th, 2007 by Tian
Azmin was attacked at his home last Friday (19 January). It was probably about 12.00 noon when Azmin just arrived home in his car. As he drove into the house, before he managed to close the automatic gate, he saw from his back mirror two huge men dashed through the gate toward his car.
He quickly reversed the car trying to escape. But too late, the intruders were well planned and well coordinated. Another car cut across the front gate and physically blocked his car from exiting. So his car was trapped in between.
At that quick moment, the assailants — one with a parang and another with an iron rod — approached the car and smashed the right side window.
These guys then pointed their weapons at Azmin retold that they demanded to hand over his phone. He handed over his phone and some cash, the thugs then rushed out.
It was a rather unusual ‘robbery’. The operation seemed very well coordinated, yet the target was simply a handphone and a small amount of cash. They did not take anything else from the car, did not attempt to break into the house.
Personally, I suspect this was not simply an act of mugging. Perhaps they were trying to deliver a message to Azmin or some one.
It looks like the playing field we are in is getting rougher and rougher. I wonder criminal elements have entered the ring.
The next day, the police claimed that a man was caught for investigation. They ruled out any political motive in this case. Isn’t it odd they can be so sure. Let’s see what comes out of the investigation.
