Forgive my French. I was corrected by a friend that the subhead of my blog “la vie existe à cause du choix” was inaccurate. I was reminded that “à cause” is normally referred to unfortunate event, the more appropriate phrase should be “la vie existe grace aux choix”.
Thank you for this assistance.
Let me take this opportunity to clarify the name of my blog “E Contrario”. E Contrario is Latin, taking the “e” as a popular suffix for the virtual world. The phrase means “on the other side”, “on the contrary”, or other similar conotation.
To be on the other side is a decision by choice. Life is consisted of a series of decisions by choice. We are not just being born into existence. That’s why there is a big distinction between living and life.
Life is not just sustaining breathing and heart beats. Life is what we choose and how we choose to live.
“Life exists because of choice” in French is a reminiscence of the existentialist discourse. Existentialism is no longer popular nowadays, but I shall confess its influence on my philosophy.
Perhaps to be true to the spirit of existentialism, I refuse to label myself. Most important thing in life is to act on our choice and be committed to defend our choice.
