I attended two wedding receptions just prior to the Chinese New Year.
On 15 February, Bardrul Hisham Shaharin and Erahanem Md Zaki got married. The two young reformasi activists have been my very closed friends throughout years of struggle. Badrul now goes about with his nick name Che’gu Bard is a brave and intelligent young man from Negeri Sembilan. Era is the daughter of Zaki or Pak Lang, who is the brother-in-laws of Anwar (Zaki married Anwar’s sister).
The young couple held their wedding reception in Seremban Town Hall in the evening of 16 February. It was a Friday night, and a day before Chinese New Year Eve. I was contemplating how to attend the reception for fearing a heavy traffic leaving KL. In fact, I had gone back to Melaka with my sister at noon to avoid the traffic jam.
Luckily Ginie was willing to accompany me back to Seremban. So we drove northward in the evening and to our surprise there was no traffic jam at all.
The wedding dinner was attended by many friends—many who were comrades in arm of our struggle. Anwar, Kak Wan and the family were at the dinner too. I was impressed by the wedding video introducing the newly wed lovers. I am glad that I got to learn more about their lives.
Best wishes to them both!

On 17 February noon I attended another wedding of a member of Bahagian Alor Gajah. Our division committee member Yusof held a wedding reception for his daughter in the Felda kampong in Hutan Perca near Machap, Melaka.
In the photo are the committee members of Bhgn Alor Gajah. In the middle at the front is Yusof; on his left is Pak Ibrahim, a veteran grassroots politician; and Dr Ahmad (front, first right).
