Ijok voters support
May 8th, 2007 by Tian
Assuming all the votes in the ballot boxes of Ijok by-election were genuine, based on the demographic profile of each polling station, one could make the following estimation:
- About half or more than 50% Malay voters supported KeADILan;
- Some 55-60% Chinese voted for KeADILan; and
- 15% at most 20% Indian voted for KeADILan
This analysis is probably an anti-climax to the BN’s euphoria. This is alarming for BN leaders. While there was a slight drop of Malay votes (I believe it was electoral frauds), Chinese votes leaped from about 40% to 60%.
PM Abdullah summoned MCA and Gerakan to explain the drop of Chinese support for BN. This again reflected the nature of racialism in BN. Alas, Ong Kah Ting and Koh Tsu Koon were too timid to provide an objective answer.
Ong and Koh could have politely told the PM that this could have been avoided if his son-in-laws and the Pemuda Umno could be taught to behave more graciously.
Unfortunately, the two Chinese parties dare not confront the misdeeds of Umno, instead they pick on MIC. Ong gave a lame excuse—poor services of ex-ADUN caused anger among the Chinese.
Since each BN component party is tasked to take care of respective constituency, should MCA and Gerakan bear some responsibility for providing services to the Chinese community in Ijok?
While I not a fan (friend) of deceased K Sivalingam, it is unfair to put blame on a dead man who cannot defend himself. I wonder why MIC never took this up with MCA?

British politics is so interesting to learn
Malaysian politics is so exhilirating to participate!
Salam perkenalan, Tian.
After 50 yrs of independence (44 years in East Malaysia), how do our West Malaysian brothers & sisters feel? Fully satisfied? In my Land Below Wind you will know which roads were initiated by PBS……ie not being sealed, even if that will lead to schools and despite the fact that PBS is now back in the BN fold. Within Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu area rakyats are still dependent on gravity water by their own effort (without govt assistance) and worst when UMNO led BN ruled Sabah wef 1994, open space in a private urban housing estate (meant for children playground) in Taman Olivia Phase 2 within 2 minutes drive from KK International Airport, was developed into a Surau (just to justify spending of public funds by UMNO grassroot leaders). Indeed, for us it is TIME FOR CHANGE.
