Parti Keadilan Rakyat Batu division organized a gathering of new members around Jalan Ipoh. We held the meeting in Madras Cafe, opposite the famous Subramaniam Temple on Jalan Ipoh.
I must admit our division has been weak with the participation of Indian community. Batu Parliament area has a demography profile similar to Malaysian population. It consists of 42% Malay, 42% Chinese and 16% Indian. Our mission is not just win the seat but to create a teamwork which integrate all the people in the community.
Thanks to Saralily George and Gobi Valautam, their hardwork in organizing the Indian members is beginning to see positive result. Saralily is a strong courageous woman whose son died in police custody. She fought to demand justice for her son G. Francis Udayapan was found dead in Klang River on May 2004. The case is still pending in court.
Saralily joined KeADILan last year, and in the last divisional general meeting, she was elected as one of the vice chair of Batu division.
Gobi was also a new member. He left MIC to join our multiracial struggle. He is now an exco member in Batu division. He has been very active in organizing and recruiting new members especially the Indian.
Today (24 June), at 14:00hr, Madras Cafe was filled with 50 over keen listeners. They were recruited by Gobi to join. We had 2 hours of dialogues on the party’s objective and vision. At the end 40 persons filled up the forms to be KeADILan’s members.
