Nat’s arrest story

A SB photographer at IPD Dang Wangi last night (13 July). His job is to take our pictures for filing. I keep a file on SBs too.
Eng Kiat who is working with Nat as a part-time journalist for our website recalls the incident of arrest:
At 4.40pm this evening, three Malay men knocked on Yayasan Aman’s (Unit G801 Pusat Dagangan Phileo Damansara 1, Jalan 16/11, 46350 Petaling Jaya) glass door, which was not locked, and I (seated adjacent to the door) motioned for them to come in.
One of them requested for Nathaniel Tan, “Siapa Nathaniel Tan?”. Upon which Nathaniel stood up and identified himself.
The same person explained that they were police, “Kami polis”, but no proof of identification was offered, and requested for Nathaniel’s identification card.
Upon checking and recording his particulars, he told Nat to cooperate and follow them. At the same time, a second officer asked for my Identification Card, which I promptly took out, and recorded my Name, IC number, and Address. He also asked for the office address, and wrote it down below my particulars.
Meanwhile, the leader who recorded Nathaniel’s information asked Nathaniel to cooperate and follow them because they “wanted to talk”. “Tolong bekerjasama dan ikut kami sekejap, kami nak cakap sedikit.”
Hesitantly, Nathaniel asked them what the matter was about, and got the reply “Nak cakap tentang Internet.” The man insisted Nathaniel followed them but Nathaniel asked why they couldn’t just talk at the office. The man reiterated that Nathaniel should cooperate and follow them.
The man then asked Nathaniel whether he owned the laptop he was working on, to which Nathaniel said yes, and was then asked to switch it off. “Tolong tutup komputer dan bawa sekali.” Nathaniel then packed up.
I asked the leader if this was an arrest, but they said “Bukan, hanya nak siasat sedikit.” Nathaniel then started following them out, and Encik Ismail (the office manager of Yayasan Aman) then came out from the back (his room is at the back portion of the office), and the Policemen asked him a few questions, which I did not hear.
Nathaniel then followed them out and into the elevators. I then called Tian Chua to inform him.
From Eng Kiat’s description of the situation, Nat was clearly not informed of his reason of arrest. The police officers lied that no arrest was made, but later at night we found that Nat was held in IPD Dang Wangi lock-up.
Our police force is now operating like Gestapo. Their priority is not combating crime to protect citizens’ safety, instead they act promptly and speedily to defend the oppressive regime.
CONGRATULATION TO KHAIRY!!! NOW POLICE HAVE MOVED IN TO DETAINED PKR MAN…THE CONSPIRACY TO TOPPLE NAJIB HAD BEGIN …THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING…NAJIB IS SLEEPLESS AND TWITCHING…..
KONSPIRASI KHAIRY UNTUK MENJATUHKAN NAJIB SUDAH BERMULA..

Police should not take away people just like this. This is not the correct procedures. Who knows this policemen are fake. I will definitely not cooperate with them and wait till my lawyer arrives. There should a be report lodge against this police for kidnapping. What is the justification to detain people without concrete reason. Investigation for what? Tian Chua, if you read this, please go on and continue to fight for justification. Do whatever means you can. I believe the citizen has already got impatience with the police on how they handle matters especially the Altantuya’s case. They can murder people just like this. Whatever the outcome of the case, it is police who murder citizen because the are police. PERIOD!
Anwar described the police as Gestapo a long time ago.
Yes, the idea is to keep the Najib affair in the air as long as it takes to allow the whole country know about it.
The police acts on the beck and call of UMNO. This is nothing new either.
[...] read this story. Nathaniel Tan was taken into police [...]
so wat now scumbags versus scumbags? people was commenting about tianchua extending his potical mileage in the expense of somebody’s death, and so is mr khairy. wtf, when is malaysia going to have a peace of mind..
pkr, please give us more hopes, you are the only one left we can count on.
It’s a shame that the authority acted in this manner……poor guy was told it was just an investigation and questioning, but somehow was locked up in jail.
What a load of rubbish from the law enforcement people. It really appears that politic is always behind the scene. I don’t think the public can trust the politician and the government machinery.
Law of the jungle must be working in that part of the world………..lure someone into the police station on the pretext of just questioning then just locked out the poor soul.
What sort of human right is that??
yeah..what law is this?

He looks a pretty boy. I am sure he is not too bad a snapper too. Shame about the dumb outfit – poor boy ain’t much of a snappy dresser… I always thought my taxes go to some legit use, one of them to the photographers benevolence fund…
The public can actually object to any stranger taking their pictures. IDs should always be demanded and verified upon which objections can still be made – nobody has an automatic right to taking any picture of others. How the hell are we to know even with a piece of laminated card someone flashes that he has any picture-taking authority? Anyone of you seen what IDs entitle who to take what pictures? I always assume someone flashing an ID to be someone who assumes he can sell me a life policy ora stolen handphone or collecting my hard-earned wealth toward some crappy school band which would torture me in a shopping mall one day…
For what we know the person taking our pictures may be a pervert, a weirdo, the axe murderer, Hannibal Lecter, etc etc – even a bad cross-dresser. We just can’t be too careful especially those whose duty is to protect us are never around when really needed.
I won’t allow myself to be photographed by someone who wears a bleeding pink shirt! Even if he produces a laminated card with flashing lights! Why the need to take my pictures? I may have a problem with people with pink shirts even if they may be my fairy godfathers but a bad haircut and a ‘moustache’ with exactly eleven almost-hair is pushing it too far! I, me, and the rest of the public are entitled to our safety if not the full human right to be protected from someone else’s interpretation of his right to free expression!
Sorry, all you lovely boys out there! You may be doing your job and all that (if you are gainfully employed by any authority whose purpose if for the good of the public) but do understand I hate being intimidated by a lack of sense of style. I am all for helping photographers when there is the need but I am not into serving the kinky needs of some bent bastards who just want to collect pictures for the wrong reasons.
As a member of the public – and yes, I put that food in your feeding bowl too, I an entitled to some proper explanation as to why there is the need to take pictures of someone who is of no consequence and only out to find out, as any tax payer should why costly cameras are bought for any lousy dressers just in order to waste films (paid for by me and other lesser tax-payers)?
I am happy to send in all the albums of pictures of myself since day one of my existence if there is a genuine need that those would serve a proper purpose for our country – no need to surreptitiously take them or openly terrify me with taking them while wearing bloody awful shirt under sushi restaurant jacket, nutty look and all that…! That itself is assault with intent to cause mental breakdown.
Having said half of what I want to say, maybe, we should see all the pretty boys, those SB SoBs in your file!
Do go on, show us!
[The same person explained that they were police, “Kami polisâ€, but no proof of identification was offered, and requested for Nathaniel’s identification card.]
In short they identified themselves as police personnels .. kalau tak puas hati mintalah ‘authority cards’ .. kalau tak percaya mereka polis dan tidak minta their ‘authority cards’.. buat apa Nat serah identificatian cards pada mereka .. salah siapa??
[Meanwhile, the leader who recorded Nathaniel’s information asked Nathaniel to cooperate and follow them because they “wanted to talkâ€.
Polis mcm Gestapo??? Belum lagi polis ekori kereta Nat, suddenly potong dan pintas keretanya, sup sap sup sap, gari, tutup muka, heret masuk dalam kereta mereka, gedebak gedebuk 2 atau 3 das tumbukan bila banyak soalan. Atau bedebum, tingkap pecah, fully armed with sofisticated weapons, pekop mulut terus heret keluar rumah setelah pengsan akibat karate chop di tengkok. Atau masuk aja kunci kereta, pulas saja kuci to start the engine, bangggggg !!! kereta dan Nat pun berkecai. Atau bang !! peluru tembus cermin tingkap dan tembus kepala, otak bersepai, tak sempat nak sebut pisang, hanya dapat sebut pi… terus senyap !!! Atau, mana Nat??? tak tahu..tanya sana tak tahu..tanya sini tak tahu, tanya situ tak tahu, tanya sinun pun tak tahu … sempai sekarang pun tak tahu …tak macam gestapo ker???
Nathaniel Tan mesti dihukum digantung sampai mati seperti bekas Presiden Iraq Saddam Hussein. Apabila dia digantung dia mesti dihina dan dimaki seperti Saddam.
Nathaniel Tan bukan manusia tetapi binatang.
