Internet: Minister vs IGP

Nat is accused of linking his blog to a website containing allegations of corruption of Deputy Minister of Internal Security Johari Baharom. The revelation came into many people’s blogs about 6 months ago. Nat was in fact very careful in not displaying any defamatory statement.
However the incident sparked an open dispute between the deputy minister and the police boss. PM Abdullah was unable to soothe the two “napoleonsâ€.
PM then ordered ACA to investigate Johari. Only last week ACA concluded that Johari has been cleared from all speculations of wrongdoing.
In the meantime, Johari has now ordered an investigation on the IGP Musa Hassan.
Johari claimed that the inquiry was triggered by allegation against the IGP on the internet.
There is an irony in all these. Nobody really knows what caused the two to be interlocked in this bitter struggle. But one thing is sure: the protracted battle is sustained by ammunition from the internet.
As we remember clearly, the prime minister as well as deputy prime minister had in many occasions warned the public not to believe internet news. A couple of months ago, there was even a circular to instruct all editors of the press not top quote internet as a source.
If internet is really that “unreliable†and “full of rumoursâ€, the public would be readily shut down their broadband and stick to TV3 or Utusan or NST, and a whole variety of media.
Strangely why are Pak Lah’s cabinet members and his top law enforcers chasing after shadows from the “baseless†internet?
The internet may not be reliable as a source of information - of course, I prefer our completely reliable and utterly trustworthy media. I read our papers and watch our TV, it is better than burying my head in the sand (too filthy) or wearing my sarong over my head (can be ridiculous). That said, there is no difference if you don’t mind dirt nor looking silly with a sarong over the head, you get the same effect as ‘being informed’ as relying on our bankrupt media. I can add that not relying on our media can be cheaper - I do have to pay for the big bundle of rag and/or add to the destruction of our environment through the generating of electricity from our grossly inefficient generators to watch the animated faces of our excruciatingly ugly politicians. And all the while thinking that I am ‘informed’. What rot!
Like Tweedledee and Tweedledum (’napoleans’?!) I rely on the internet to get the truth. And of course watch the circus of people getting thoroughly worked up over what they see published about them. The internet provides me with endless entertainment, in this instance, a monkey show, a tussle between two clowns. No newspaper or TV can give me that pleasure - do you think I would read 43 pages of backside-licking sycophantic worship every time someone gets an ‘honour’, a title and all are expected to advertise their elation in a newspaper that may perhaps provide a small column for some antics by our politicians? No, Tan Ssssssrrriiiiii…….!!!!
As much as I am grateful for our political comedians asses of themselves over and over again to entertain me, I am indebted to you guys out there on the net who spare time and energy to let us read the news we want to read, news that our running bow-wow media dares not publish. Hats off to you guys!
Going by our politicians gift for grand stupidity, it would not be unlikely that in the weeks to come, more of you may experience some inconvenience in the form of that knock on the door at four AM and being hauled to a cold storage facility. If that happens, fret not - the rest of us out here, deprived of ‘unreliable’, ‘baseless’ news will surely notice and will not let that escape the attention of the rest of the world.
Now do feed us with the next episode of Tweedle-whoever, publish more postcards from France, alert us to secret imprisonments, and do whatever else our ineffectual media cannot perform due to their lack of journalistic ‘manhood’!
If these guys can not sort out their between them what the hell are they doing??
For the sake of decency, both party must resigned from their role.
These sort of politicians are a shame to the tax payer who kept them in the system. The system need an overhaul. Those dead wood must be thrown out!
