First Sunrise of New Year

A friend Popho from Seoul sent this picture which she took early morning on Day One of 2008.
Korea is at the most eastern tip of Asian continent. She has captured the first rays of the new year.
Since the ancient time, Korea was known as “the land of the fresh sun”, viz. Chosun or in Chinese Chaoxian (æœé²œ).
The sun is the source of life and energy. Daily fresh sunlight brings renewal to life. However humanity shouldn’t take all the good things in the Universe for granted. Our economic activities have contributed to the rapid global warming.
I hope there will be a change of course in 2008 (domestic and international)—to avert a crisis that might lead to total destruction.
