Bitterness
Mar 23rd, 2008 by Tian
The New Straits Times is running a series of articles known as Know your MPs.
Today the paper publishes a short description of me and my vision. It is a sign of power swift, the NST is adopting some form of glasnost and providing some balanced view.
However I am surprised at the bitterness of my election opponent, Lim Si Pin. I thought election is over and we should accept the people’s choice.
When Sdr Lim was approached by the press, he sounded still quite bitter over the defeat. This was revealed in his interview where he said: “I hope they see what type of MP they have voted in. I doubt he can serve the people well.”
Yes, Saudara, I agree that I may not be the best person to serve Batu voters. But he probably had to bear some responsibility too. Throughout the 13-day election campaign Sdr Lim had consistently refused any debate. He also refused to be on the same stage with me in any dialogs with the community. How could the voters know what type of MP Sdr Lim would be representing?
Lim vowed to work hard to win back the trust and support of the Batu voters.
I should say thanks to Lim for his concerns and willingness to serve. I am not sure who among my staff member called him to seek Gerakan’s assistance.
If Sdr Lim is willing and ready, I would like to invite him to assist Batu people. Our cooperation may contribute to better welfare of the residents. I hope he could serve regardless of ethnicity and status, and put aside political differences to fight for a better neighbourhood in Batu.
hmmmmm……..the way he said it…sounded like his old man…Did his dad prepare the speech for him??
Sdr. Tian, you might not be the best person to serve BUT you are cerainly a better person than he is.
SHAME ON YOU, SI PIN.
Leaders must know
Win or lose is part of political game
When it is over
They have to go to the ground
Helping the people once again
Even they have to work along with the winner
But as you are aware
You don’t find one who thinks beyond party line
These losing leaders will try to make the people suffer
They cry and despise whenever they can
“Who ask you to vote the opposition?â€
Time you will proof them wrong
When a person fights for the people
When a small step makes a lot of difference
Like giving alms to a poor guy
You can see his eyes light up
Even though the amount is small
It is the spirit of giving that counts
Racial base parties
It will be history as far as I am concerned
UMNO, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP
And other small parties in the coalition
The earlier these leaders realize it
The better for them as leaders of these parties
I wish you a better day ahead
Let the light guide you too
For a small part you do
You help many to understand
You were spot-on to challenge Lim for a debate and understandably he had to refuse. Had he accepted, he would have himself bashed by your goodself on the various issues in contention then. While you were tenaciously fighting against social injustices , and in the process had yoursely arrested on a few occassions , where was this fellow Lim? I think, if he were to be elected as MP, the best that he can offer is to make a little noise in parliament , followed by the trademark hackling of backbenchers , warned by his political masters and silenced until the next general election! To the dominant UMNO he his but just a pawn to toe the so-called BN line. Sad to say this applies to all the other BN MPs. Among other things that we , the rakyat , yearn for is justice in any form for all. In this respect alone you are more than a good choice to be an MP. Keep up the good work YB.
Yes, Tian Chua, I agree with what you said. Lim Si Pin - Like father like son. They only know how to “bad-mouth” others. Other than that, what can Si Pin and his father do?
The difference between you (Tian Chua) and Si Pin is you are the proof of you preach what u talk whereas Si Pin is, just all talks, didnt even dare to take up the challenge to hv a debate with u.
He is a Daddy’s boy, what can he do? By looking at his face, I will cast a vote of no confidence on Si Pin.
Dear Tian,
I am really proud that we have a MP that is willing to represent all his constituents no matter race or status. You make me proud to be a Malaysian.
well YB Tian Chua
does that tell you a lot about BN representatives / losers ! what a sore loser Si Pin is- considering he is still young he should be able to accept it and carry on and if he is sincere in his bid to be a YB he should take it upon himself to work harder and not keep to himself or hide and keep on throwing criticism from the sidelines.
considering his father is Dato Sri Lim former Supremo of Gerakan and Minister he should act more professionally and accept the decision of the voters and carry on with his duties as a BN member and continue his work to re-capture the seat and not whallow in shallow and juvenile thinking. shame on you Si Pin - and imagine if he won the seat he would be so damn arrogant and think he is better than anyone else. i’m so tired of the BN now- eventhough the opposition denied them of the 2/3 majority and 4 additional state fell to the opposition yet there are those who are still speaking arrogantly like Johari Baharom blaming the voters and Hishamuddin too but with toned down voice compared to last time. in actual fact Hishamuddin is also to be blame in additon to KJ for the dismal performance of BN - him taking out the Kris to make the point of ketuanan melayu - if that is the case, then it wont be wrong if the Dayaks of Sarawak take out their ‘parang ilang’ or the Chinese with their ‘Kwang Tau’ and the Sikhs with their traditional knife as a symbol of protecting their race/ religion and UMNO should not complaint because it was them starting it.
anyway YB all the best and keep fighting on- and yes Sarawak have yet to call for its state election due in 2010 so come one come all you opposition parties and make hell here for the BN !
Well, Lim Si Pin, what say you? Are you just a sore loser or do you really have the interest of Batu voters at heart? An olive branch has been extended to you, do you have the graciousness to accept it? Or are you going to sulk for the next 5 years?
I am a Voter “on the fence” as one may considered. Voting for Tian Chua isn’t a difficult decision this time around although previously I did not have any unpleasant impression on Mr. Lim Si Pin. In fact, I was wishing he could get elected based on various Gerakan press reports in the past projected him as a nice guy. That was before I realized he would be contest against Tian Chua. I am offering the reasons why I consider Tian Chua.
1. As a person, he has been tested and has been a consistent person. He has the records of serving people regardless of …….
2. During the the campaigning period, I could hardly find him in BATU area because he also participated in others candidates campaigns. Those mending the booths however are members and volunteers for PKR that speaks unreservedly about his sacrificial nature. This is one PLUS point we need from a leader regardless of their background or allegiance.
3. Supporting Anwar’s call for change met my longing desire. So Tian Chua you are the guy this time because of PKR.
4. Lim Si Pin would have done well with me if he is not Lim Keng Yaik’s son. For his father continue to frustrate me since 1986. His many dealings with MCMC and telco business entities disgust me.
I am more so relieved after reading the nstOnline that I have supported the right candidates. Lim Si Ping is really his father’s son. He had just revealed what a person he really is. I am really thankful the opponent at BATU was not Dr. Tan Kee Kwong, a person I revere and respect. It would be a very difficult decision.
wahhh.. why like that one??
That’s kind of immature the way he answered that. Thank God I didin’t vote for him.
The people’s choice is clear. We are not hoping for change but we want change ….and we believe We Can Change. Tian, stay focused.
Tian Chua,
If I were you, I would not invite that Sdr Lim at all……..it appeared that Sdr Lim still cannot accept the voters’s verdict. The verdict was Sdr lim was just not good enough hence he lost….that’s plain simple and does not need a rocket scientist to understand.
To have Sdr Lim onboard would be like inviting the enemy into the camp. Sdr lim is now irrelevant in the polictical scene. Maybe to a large extent his BN side is not relevant either.
Sdr Lim’s BN team practiced racial politics, where the people are classified according to the racial background……no difference fro the apathy in South Africa.
We must get rid of racial politic!!
he thinks, being the son of a former minister, gives him the divine right to be a MP. Take a hike, Mr Lim coz what have you done for the people of Batu.
[...] Bitterness [...]
I have been staying in Batu area for 20years. I have never seen Lim Si Pin face at all. During Ng Lip Yong era, he did pop by once awhile and attended several community functions. As for LSP, he can only whine and behave like sour grape. He should learn from Koh Tsu Koon on how to accept defeat like a gentleman.
Lucky that Batu voters make the right choice so far.
Si Pin = sh*t diaper
any way LIM’s have hide himself for 8 year in Batu.
I dunno wat he have done for us and he juz critic ppl without any thinking.
walau eh…………. this ijerk sounded just like senior ijerk. I suppose the english saying is correct after all, it runs in the family.
jerk
Sorry Tian but it suppose to be glasnost instead of glanost……
Tian:
corrected, thanks.
“Yes, Saudara, I agree that I may not be the best person to serve Batu voters.”
Nonsense Tian Chua! You are definitely better than Lim. You bled your way to become an MP and I respect you for that!
Tian Chua is one of the many hardworking MPs I have known. Oh by the way, is NST going to apologise for depicting you as a violent person who bites a police officer?
Dear Tian
Nice meeting you with Tan Sri Khalid and Teresa Kok at Lake Club last month. I am glad all of you won the GE12.
It is clear Lim Jr is just a chip of the old block, spewing nonsense most of the time.
You may not be the best or even better than him, but I know you will speak out on our raayat’s behalf when the time comes. I know Lim Jr will toe the line and would not dare to object to UMNO. After all, UMNO stands for U Must Not Object.
Now that you are an MP please do not be a dead hero challenging the police and get bashed up, water cannoned and tear gassed.
Michael’s comment on UMNO = U Must Not Object …hahaha this so true.
Sore losers! Gerakan used to be opposition also. I guess too much $$$ is stuffed into their mouth until they don’t know how to talk. Lim Keng Yaik is a goon… !
Go on and do a good job for the people and country.
That is the real patriotism!
Does this Lim salivates too when he speaks?
Well it was definitely not hard to choose - a seasoned guy and a non-seasoned guy. LSP still has his time to prove himself to be different from what his dad is and what people think of him.
And Saudara TC also has this time now to prove to us that he can deliver and will deliver his promises to us at BATU. I believe you can do it and now is the time for you to move BATU out of the “urban new village” perception and put us on the map towards excellent community status in the likes o f Subang etc.
We will help you if you ask. You need to be open and transparent to ask for help and also to be quick to answer us and get things going.
Dear YB Tian,
This comment is rather late, however still got something to add. They are poor losers ( most of them), not only the sdr Lim. Please accept it. Saying YB Tian is not the best person for Batu not even 1 month after election, just 2 words for you sdr Lim - VERY LOUSY.
