Parliament till late night
May 13th, 2008 by Tian

Parliament at late night, Not in Malaysia!
The PM just walked into the Parliament Hall at this late hour, 23:00hr.
It seems that the strong presence of Pakatan Rakyat MPs has sent a strong signal to the government to take parliament more seriously.
At lobby of the Parliament, Sivarasa met the PM before he entered the chamber, the PM told Siva that he was listening to the speeches from his office. He just decided to join at this last hour of debate.
However my 3 weeks experience in the parliament made me realized the secrete of BN’s tyranny. BN has managed to create a set of standing order and various procedures to ensure that the executive is well insulated from the legislative. We can argue until cow come home in the parliament, yet the executive is free to do what it likes without have to directly face sanction from the legislators.
Today is the last day of debate on the King’s officiating speech. The Parliament has resolved to go on until we exhausted the list of all MPs who wish to speak.
As this moment, there are still about a dozen of Pakatan Rakyat MPs waiting for their turn to speak. I doubt we can finish before midnight…
P/S: By the way, I managed to delivered my speech at about 21:00hr just now. A relief!
Good job! Appreciate the PR’s MPs hardwork & sacrifice for the future of our country.
Finally, you managed to catch the last train and voice out attacking DPM!
Well done!!!I like the way you start the debate by citing a real scenario-parent have deep feelings about their child. This is good, simple, direct & touch everybody’s heart!
Keep it up!
Come on fellows get your acts together, I voted for PR to be dynamic and a firebrand and I believe its still not too late. Keep the midnight oil burning for the anarchy has to be sent to the abyss.
Congratulations YB! Finally diliver your first speech.
As you wrote in your post “…to ensure that the executive is well insulated from the legislative”. With a huge number of PR’s MP in parliament now, is there anyway to change this bad situation?
Thanks for the update, my dad is also in Parliament.
Just hope that its all not just talk and no action from them.
Or wasting everyones time.
There’s a need to show to all citizens of Malaysia, how our representatives behave in the august house.
There’s also a dire need for the people to see with their own eyes how the sessions are conducted and whether the people’s representatives from the opposition party have been given a fair chance to voice out issues that are pertinent to their constituents and all Malaysians in general.
So, I humbly request YB to initiate a move that the whole session be broad casted live on TV or Internet. Not just the 30 minutes time of debate. Let the people see for themselves who’re the “big foots” and who’re the “monkeys” with their own eyes.
Congratulation on you for delivering your virgin speech. Wow I am suprise Badawi is still up at 11p.m. Thought he would be sleeping by then. Maybe being a PM is really not easy especially after 8/3.
With YB Tian Chua, Lim Guan Eng, Lim Kit Siang and other scrouching tigers ie Pakatan MPs around, how to sleep nicely. Conscience stricken la. Last four years really slept enough and / or sleep too much la
The Administation still never wakes up and in arrogance.
They thought that the Parliament is like a Gossip coffee shop .
Its time Pakatan should take over the Federal Government .
On April 13th, I posted in my blog entitled poetic justice – when Tian Chua can go into Parliament as an MP with head held high on behalf of the people. CONGRATULATIONS on your first address to the Malaysian Parliament!!! A trully historic Parliament!
Tahniah YB ada telah berbahas buat kali pertama …. semoga YB masih berpegang pada landasan dan prinsip perjuangan… SALAM PERJUANGAN….

Dear MP Chua,
Finally I heard some voice concerning the future of army personnel after their retirement. Thank you & well done. If they are well taking care of, I am sure the problem of “harapkan pagar, pagar makan padi” that I mentioned in my personal email won’t happen. I have faith on you that this problem can be solved in the best way once PR forms the ruling government.
Keep it up!
Hi YB Tian Chua,
I saw you at the parliament yesterday but didn’t managed to say hi to you. I miss your speech. I left around 8pm last night. Can I have a copy of your speech?
Dear YB,
Good job! We willl support u all the time!

Tahniah hope u will always work for malaysian.
Munkin PM tidak dapat tidur awal sebab hati sakit bila dengan ahli parliment dari BN tidak dapat jawab soalan soalan.
Itu lah satu lagi kesilapan PM…………
