What Hisham said?
May 15th, 2008 by Tian

There seems to be some confusion what Hishamuddin @ ‘Kris’hamuddin said in Parliament last night.
What he said definitely intended to confuse everyone. He talked about commitment to resolve the problems.
What problems? In Hishamuddin’s view, the question is not about building more Chinese or Tamil schools. He argued that many Tamil and Chinese schools are having shortage of students. He challenged the Opposition to show political will to accept this ‘reality’.
I repeatedly asked the Education Minister whether SRJKC Damansara will be reopened? What does he mean by his commitment?
He avoided my questions. He refused to said it in a firm term: “Yes, it will be reopen”
He spoke about the school ground will be used (not reopened) if it fulfills 3 conditions:
(a) safety: enough parking space, traffic, entrance into school, etc.;
(b) health: avoid pollution from highway; and
(c) comfort for students: space, playground etc.
Hishamuddin also reminded the Parliament to remember the reasons for the closure SRJKC Damansara. In my view, what the minister said was that unless the school can satisfy the above conditions, it is not likely Education Ministry is not likely to give the greenlight.
Later MP Kulai Ong Ka Ting walked into the chamber while we were debating English as the medium for Science & Maths. Ong asked a question on this topic, but he started with thanking Hishamuddin for agreeing to reopen SRJKC Damansara.
Obviously, Ong Ka Ting was unaware of our earlier debate. Hishamuddin was clearly embarrassed.
When the parliament session ended at 21:00hr, Ong Ka Ting and Wee Ka Siong approached Hishamuddin with very stern face. They looked like being let down.
(Report on this issue can be found on Malaysiakini and Merdeka Review)
OKT has started the ball rolling.
maybe if enough MPs stand up and begin their speech by thanking Hishamuddin for agreeing to reopen SRJKC Damansara, he may have little choice but to reopen the school.
He is a HIPOCRITE and a RACIST - that we all know.
Today we know he is shallow and clueless… and is our Minister of Education !! God Save Malaysia
Same old story of relocation of another Chinese school with low enrolment to Damansara. Why can the no of Chinese schools be increase? Why must it be a zero sum game? Same goes for Tamil schools.
If OKT said ‘thank you’ that confirms that there were prior discussion on this issue and an approval was assured by Hish… earlier. More should join OKT to thank Hish… for agreeing to re-open SRJKC Damansara. No more u-turn for Hish.. Otherwise ‘malu’ OKT lah.
Well we want to reopen the original SRJKC D’sara, not relocating some other school into the building. Don’t deceive us, Hisham.
Call me a pessimist. I knew from day one that re-opening will not be easy. He is finding excuses to prevent it from re-opening. Months back, he made the promise to re-open it and now he imposed certain terms and conditions for it.
Did he think through before opening his mouth months back? It is saddening to have him as our Education Minister!
yes, Hishamuddin is still adamant and so arogant with his ways and how he deals with issues pertaining to his ministry or any matters generally speaking. it seems that in many instance, the BN is still in a state of denial and in my opinion they are adamant not to accept what was the result of the 12 GE.
the BN especially those few Ministers still persist in their thinking that the status quo prior to 12 GE is to be maintain and the PM is blantantly letting them go as they wish in order to creat chaos and disunity within the party and country to enable him to hold on to power. when there is chaos, there wont be any viable challenge to his position within UMNO or even the Premiership and his Deputy is not able to mount any challenge without any clear support from party members or even the administration. every one is kept busy in trying to maintain their own position and that makes PM able to continue holding court. in addition, with the PM possessing all the dirt on his Deputy i am certain he is unable to do anything.
it’s so simple- in political theory- it is written that during times of chaos - there will be opportunities for some to grab power or incumbent can remain in power by creating chaos and havoc. i see that is happening now- its the storm before the calm and it will only be calm after the UMNO GA in December. PM is keeping quiet for a simple reason, trying to find ways and means to retain his position whilst being seen as above all of the current issues besetting his administration and country hoping to emerge as a ‘peace-maker’ or some kind of ’sage’ to heal the country. very typical AAB !
i would prefer the BN’s position within Parliament challenged by PR or cross overs with numbers so close between the two that the King would instruct another GE to solve all the problems then we will hv a fresh start with BN out of govt being left as opposition then we can start rebuilding Malaysia - a Malaysia for Malaysians !! I want a change and I want it NOW !
Don’t deny the ethnic minority to have their mother tongue taught in their respective schools. Look into the constitution if you need help after all its not there for ammendments.
I TOTALLY agreed with [Malaysiaku & dr. matthew lee posting!!!]… Enough is enough!!! We just need A NEW PAKATAN RAKYAT GOVERNMENT!!! And Rakyat & the country will progress!!! We are so so so so so so FED-UP with Krismuddin, KJ and ALL UMNO/BN attitudes!!! NEVER CHANGED & STILL IN DENIAL MODE! We, Rakyat want them OUT!!!
dear YB Tian Chua.
For your questions in next parliment sitting-submit by 2/6/2008,please ask this.
Tian Chua, please ignite the fire!
The people caused the political tsunami to happen om March 8. No one, not even many of the victorious MPs, believed it could happened before the event. But happened it did!
Now, no one may believe a Judiciary Tsunami may happen. But happen it will, if the rakyat wants it to happen. So, do we want it to happen? Do we want a Judiciary Tsunami here now?
If so, let us work for it. Let each want of us make our desire known. Write, speak, blog, lobby, do whatever you can!!!!
Get your MPs to keep fighting for the Commission’s Recommendations to be implemented
Minister Hisham is ducking the question of fairness and equality……fufilment of those 3 conditions are too subjective in nature that the final answer is a “NO”.
What a bunch of rubbish the Ministry of Education is under this minister.
From my observations through the years, other ministers are equally unhelpful and clueless in engaging serious parliamentary discussion.
It’s a clear waste of tax payers money by keeping incompetent ministers in the chamber…….we need an overhaul in the government machinery or else the nation will be in an economic stagnancy for a long time to come.
Wake up Malaysia!!!!!!!!!!!
