Dr M: Last Man Standing
May 20th, 2008 by Tian

Dr Mahathir announced quiting Umno at 12:35hr today (19 May). This fulfilled the prophesy that all Umno presidents (except Tun Abdul Razak) left the party.
This is definitely a calculated move. Mahathir has reached his end of the road. Mahathir’s credibility has been steadily eroded by the VK Lingam investigation.
I believe that Mahathir is feeling threaten by further investigation which would lead to a lot of incriminating evidences. His ego is too big to accept the ‘humiliation’ by the court.
Mahathir’s quiting is a bombshell for Umno. However I doubt many will join him in quiting Umno.
In any case, the latest development will demoralize some section of Umno and BN. But on the other hand, this is Mahathir final and most desperate attempt to push his sympathizers and Najib to go all out to oust Abdullah Badawi.
Dr Mahathir’s membership card number is 00001 in Umno Baru, and he is ready to fight as if he is the last man standing.
Many things I disagree with Mahathir, but I must take my hat off to his fighting spirit!
Sorry to say that Tun Mahathir is sure loser. His ego is still running high. Wasn’t it his blunder to have Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as his successor? Thinking that Pak Lah can be pulled by the
nose was a real miscalculation on Mahathir’s part. Pak Lah has now the power that Mahathir once had. So do not be mistaken that Pak Lah is not going to take advantage of it. Mahathir should have realized that Pak Lah is not as stupid as he thought him to be. Anybody for that matter when he/she has the power he/she certainly cling on to it and make full use of it.
Quiting UMNO in such a hasty manner will not help solve the already troubled UMNO but instead put UMNO into bigger problem. BN would also be greatly affected and so would the whole country. This is pure act of selfishness of the highest degree on the part of Mahathir.
He would never want to think of the consequences of his doing by leaving UMNO as long as his personal objective is achieved. I believe he is still as power crazy even after he had stepped down. He is willing to create enemy with Pak Lah as he had done so to DSAI. He should be ashamed of Lee Kuan Yew who stepped down many years ago and yet still be able to see Singapore prosper.
Mahathir is selfish enough as not to groom his successor well. In the first place why should he? He crazed to be the best PM of Malaysia in Malaysian history so why should there be anyone else to be at par with him and let alone be better than him. Such deplorable attitude has resulted the country in what it is today.
Truly he is such a desperate loser and still acting as though he is still the de facto PM of Malaysia.
It’s time people realized that Mahathir should turn over a new leaf. After all those mistakes and power crazy nature of him, Mahathir should make amends to redeem his dignity. Would he be man enough to do it and really admit his mistakes of the past?
Hi,
I don’t believe that UMNO is a one man party, leave your sentiments behind and move forward. The era of bullshit is definately over for sure. I hope the courts keep him going for a while for all the grave misdeeds he had done for the Rakyats especially………………….
He is cornered. It is as simple as that. The Lingamgate threathen to expose him and hang him dry. He is looking for someone in UMNO who has the ball or interest to shelter him for the great humilation awaiting him. Trust me, anyone that show a slight interest or support for him will get his endorsement against Pak Lah.
selfish man!…ask members to choose between him and the party…and every one says the party is bigger than any one!
So long..farewell..it’s time to say goodbye to TDM!!!
Well, Pak Lah should take this opportunity to get rid all the bad influences in UMNO. He should make UMNO clearance operation such as kick out all the whining Mahathirist and all the mess he left, get rid the problematic Najib, tied-up his SIL and of course he should wake up and clean up his name. He is a good man, but he really should wake up and be aware of anyone who took advantage on him.
Whether Dr M is quiting or staying on the sideline is irrelevant…….in fact this applies to his hand-picked “heroes”. UMNO is beginning to be irrelevant in Malaysian politics where the rise of the UMNO intellectual ones cannot be fooled. This lots can see and feel the rising resentment and the daily life of “it’s who you know and not what you know”.
Time has come for a change of guards!!!!!!!
Hello
YB Tian
Good comments and i really hope U will continue to write regularly
Pardon my ignorance but why is Dr M not arrested under ISA for blatantly calling for the PM to step down? Doesn’t this action connote a threat to the security of the country? Is it because he is a ‘Tun’ which brings the question why both him and Tun Ling was so quickly bestowed the title immediately upon their retirement? I think if I were to openly call for the resignation of the PM in public, I would certainly be whisked off in a black maria in matter of seconds!
And our DPM..why should the government use its public resources i.e. the police force (which is paid for by taxpayers) to arrest RPK when the case refers to his personal interest. If anything, DPM should hire his own lawyers to sue RPK if he thinks RPK has tarnished his image.
I am a good taxpayer but it pains me when I think how all my hard earned money is being misused by the government and not for the good of the people in this country.
