UMNO Baru is actually UMNO Lama.......whatever it is, the party is irrelevant as modern and educated people from both sides of politics no longer want to be represented by this mob. A mob that hasn't got any direction for the future except to enrich the small circle of 'friends and mates'.
Dr M really regreted appointing both the top guns of government machinery. One is seems too weak and perhaps try not to make mistake. The other is too much involved in that "Mongolian Affair". At the same time there is another guy who wanted to de-strone the Abdullah Camp in the open channel.
It is a classic case of "Law of the Jungle" within UMNO.

YB Tian Chua, Tun Musa Hitam (if he's representing Pak Lah faction) and Tun Dr. Mahathir described each other as torn in the flesh. Are we not looking at different sides of the same coin?

When Pas captured Terengganu in the 1999 general election, BN Government under Dr. Mahathir channeled the 5% oil royalty to the State under the fancy name "Wang Ehsan". Where the money went is anybody's guess. The funny part is that when BN recaptured the State of Terengganu in the 2004 general election under the leadership of Pak Lah, the oil royalty money was still handled via the "Wang Ehsan" modus operandi and even the Umno Menteri Besar did not know where some of the money went. The current Mentri Besar seemed to be in the dark too.

After the 8 of March general election, 4 more States were captured by the opposition-led PR in addition to Kelantan. Have the PR led State Governments faced any difficulty to get the tax grant from BN led Federal Government? Or it tried to create a parallel State machinery to dispense the grant along the "Wang Ehsan" model? Voters in the 5 PR governed States also pay taxes as voters in BN governed States. As such all the State Governments should be treated fairly. You should get your colleagues to examine the Federal and State relations in such countries as US, Canada and Australia where the two tier Governments are controlled by different parties and see how they distribute the tax grant.

This brings us back to the original premise "torn in the flesh". I agree with the majority of the visitors to your blog that Dr. Mahathir has his basic human right to speak out as any other Malaysian. It is wrong to threaten him with ISA arrest. It is up to the public to judge whether they agree with him or his adversaries.

The way he handles such issues actually tells us if he really have the material to lead, the qualities of a good leader. If not, we have to take stock and look beyond .........Otherwise....... Someone who posses better leadership skills and have lots of common sense is more suitable to take us to greater heights in the immediate future. We are concern about our future and the future of the younger generations.

Tian Chua,

I think Najib is forced to remain quiet, probably because Altantuya's ghost has got him in a stranglehold. Whatever it is, he wreaks of bad intentions and sly double dealings.

he has never been a prominent leader and an examplery statesman and shouldn't even be considered to helm UMNO (let alone the nation). My take is, he will be Mahathir's henchman who will work in the shadows to pull the rug from under Abdullah.

Be that as it may, I believe that it is Mahathir's destiny to destroy the UMNO that he had nurtured for the past two decades. Let him fulfil it.

Cheers!

oh bugger it all mate !!! can we have a new government like by end of 2008 then i'll definitely have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW -NEW YEAR 2009 ! same old story like a broken old record and i'm so sick and tired of hearing this bangsawan play. was watching TV3 news at 8pm last night not even 5 minutes i changed to Astro music station - better and TV3 was airing about the oppositions' empty promises after more than 70 days completion of the 12 GE - asking 'manakah janji-janji pembangkang di dalam manifesto semasa pilihan raya ke 12 sudahkah ditetapi oleh pembangkang' like come on that's not fair right - and that's not so bias - and how about janji Pak Lah when he got elected into office - his janji of eliminating or lower corruption and many other promises - i think TV3 should change its name to TV BN - better still - shame on you TV 3 !! shame !!! and to see Tun Musa Hitam commenting on the empty promises - like wow ! keep quiet lar Musa you're also the same - just enjoy your Chairman(ship) of the combined Sime Darby group and i wonder if he should be considered as an 'eminent' person who was one of the members promulgating the ASEAN charter - he's no more eminent he's tainted too from the beginning - just keep quiet- be above politics as you are one of the stooges too and enjoy what you have now. when reporters ask your opinion just say you've retired from politics and you're said and done enough and let the current batch of 'leaders' lead - simple dont just enter into the frying pan - !! so degrating i see Tun Musa Hitam. dont know what will Tunku Abdul Rahman say if he's still alive and seeing this - i think he'll just say i better stay at the race course and watch the horses better than listening to these 'juvenile-delinquents' fighting !! YB Tian Chua - ask Datuk Seri Anwar to expediate the new govt - i dont care if PR is better or not compared to BN at least we can give you a try - and its better than keep on listening to old broken records like Tun Dr. Mahathir, Pak Lah, Najib and those others !!

Doesn't require a PhD in political science to know that Dr M is the past master of machiavellian politics. Machiavellians are obsessed with how to keep power, not necessarily with good governance (which, if they deem it convenient to their purposes, they are also capable of, but only as a means of further reinforcing their positions).
So you can expect that the Old Rogue is hoping the Young Rogue will take a leaf from his father's book and use the threat of instability and bloodshed to regain BN's stranglehold on Malaysian politics, by whatever means necessary - even if it means using the Hindraf movement to panic the Malays and trigger civil unrest and violence. Any major disruption of "law and order" will give Najib the excuse he needs to swoop down on the opposition (and on the most vocal dissenters), and declare a national emergency. As Defence Minister he has access to the army and if he takes on the powers of Home Minister, there is no limit to the damage he can do Malaysia. The nation will be thrown back a hundred years - but would somebody who merely loves personal power give a hoot? Look at the Indonesian generals and the Burmese military junta. They're nothing but uniformed brigands ruling their countries at gunpoint. Do you think Mahathir would quietly accept the devastating results of GE12 if he were reigning PM? To such politicians humans are mere pawns in their game of chess. Just like the Neocons in the White House, human lives mean nothing - a few thousand, a few million, it's just "collateral damage"! If we wish to bypass this tragic
scenario, Najib and Rosmah must be completely removed from the centre of power.
Doesn't matter whether they end up in prison or in comfortable political exile. We cannot allow them to hold public office for more than another few weeks! As for Mahathir, a few months in Kamunting will do him good - perhaps he can have the distinction of being the last person arrested and incarcerated under the ISA before it gets abolished.

Tian:
On principle, we should never agree that Mahathir to be arrested under ISA.
The Anti-Corruption Agency should initiate a thorough investigation on the abuses during his reign.
Please never suggest ISA to be used against anyone.
