Make your stand!
Jun 23rd, 2008 by Tian
It is now 18:30hr. The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Shahrir Samad is making concluding speech.
The whole day of debate today is nothing but an exercise to justify the government’s ill-thought and unpopular decision to raise petrol price. Actually, it is a waste of time when the government already decided and insisted on burdening the people.
At about 18:45hr, the Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee put the motion to vote. Initially, he refused to allow a division although Ipoh Barat MP Kula stood up.
This caused an uproar in the hall, all MPs stood up in protest. Finally Speaker Pandikar came back to chair. He ruled that a division was allowed.
The bell rang and all MPs from BN came back to their seats.
The final count: 78 from Pakatan Rakyat opposed and 129 from BN support.
4 of Pakatan MPs were absent, but BN short of 11 MPs: besides the 2 SAPP, some SUPP MPs were also not present.
One can say BN won another round of vote. However, this reaffirmed that BN MPs sided with the policy of high fuel price and hyper-inflation.
dear YB Tian.
I fully support PR votes against the motion by Shahril eventhough it 78 ney…. this good enough to satisfy the people who vote PR in last GE12… people has won. cheers to u PR MP’s.
Next let see what will be BN is going to do after 100days in office.
We have alot of things BN has done to poor people during 1st 100days. can we list those thing BN has done during 1st 100 days??

3) Increase price of transporation
…. bla… bla..
anybody would like list-out???
YB TIAN GOOD ANTICS THIS MORNING, PUT THOSE BN MORONS TO SHAME, THAT WAS DONE BRILLIANTLY. give a pat on your shoulders. On another point, the is a very worrying trend emerging from the SELANGOR STATE GOVT. headed by the keadilan party of pakatan rakyat as per compared to perak and penang, this is what I wrote in rocky bro’s blog and you have to take a note of it and please inform DSAI. my comments were as follows, This is a very disturbing trend which is coming out of selangor which is led by a keadilan menteri besar, with majority of keadilan members being former UMNO members. KEADILAN has to understand very clearly that the rakyat of selangor, kicked the donkeys of bn in the butt and got rid of them, now we find the same kind of umno politics of umno emerging from the keadilan led govt, MB KHALID ALSO SOUNDS AND BEHAVES like an umno politician with his speeches with a lot of , ahs , ems ah, not clear and precise as though he is trying to choose his words without dropping the ball, what a contrasting difference in style when speeches by the other pakatan led mb nijhar and cm lim guan eng whose speeches are precise and crisp to the point of rebuttal answers are off the cuff and relevant. NOW THERE IS ANOTHER STORY EMERGING regarding corporate donations going into the accounts of keadilan, ANWAR IBRAHIM PLEASE PULL UP YOUR SOCKS AND WAKE UP AND SEE THE TREES FROM THE FOREST, we did not vote pakatan rakyat for your members of keadilan, to start doing the antics of umno in the new pakatan states, there must not be even a hint of corruption, you have been forewarned. I wonder what the other exco members of the pakatan rakyat are doing about these claims, are you all sleeping. There also seems to be a trend amongst keadilan members that since the win by the pakatan states the members should be put in positions of power, based on past sacrifices, this is also very disturbing, as this can be conceived as a very simmilliar culture of patronage practised by umno, is this what we voted for, another umno under the guise of keadilan. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS I AM A PAKATAN RAKYAT SUPPORTER , NOT SOME CYBERTROOPER FROM BN.
Tian:
I am in agreement with you. The problems in Selangor were inherited from the previous regime which had built an extensive crony network. TS Khalid is working hard to restructuring it and in the meantime carefully prevent sabotage from the bureaucracy.
Thanks for standing up for the rakyat!!! I really wonder how sincere are the BN MPs in supporting the motion.
Your action in cycling together with the other 3 PR MPs are the very actions that speak louder than words.
Wish you all the success in your struggle for fairness and justice in Malaysia.
Ha! what do you expect. Of course they will side the BN government. They are looking after their own interest not the rakyat’s. If they vote against, then they are gone. Come the next general election, they will not be pick to contest. They will be no more MP and worse no more post in the cabinet. Let the rakyat curse them and let them live with this guilt for the rest of their lives
It is only a ‘window dressing’, harsh and senseless’ decision had already been taken and the parliament has been used as a forum to say ‘Yes’.
The sharp rise in fuel prices will trigger down every sector of the sluggish economy and the Rakyat will suffer.
SIGH! …. if only senior lee was the pm from 1965…SIGH !!
The whole problem about the petrol subsidy thing is really the way it is being done. There are many countries in the world which do not subsidise petrol, Singapore I think is one of them. So to subsidise or not or how much to subsidise is not the real evil, it is in the way the government implement the policies. They never think or plan properly ahead….maybe they dont have the economic will or skills! Always reactive rather than proactive. When the shit hits the fan, everybody kena lah…They want to sell more proton cars…some politician want to get more out of AP, so they relaxed on building a first class public transport from years ago….if public transport is excellent, who would want to drive, nobody would want to buy cars lah!! If how the government is managing the petrol subsidy is truly transparent and properly planned years ago, no need to kelam kabut only now..If the government can really control business people like hawkers, bus sekolah operators, suppliers, etc from simply raising prices even at the slight mention of petrol increase, the poor man on the street earning fixed salary can still survive…!! This government really NATO lah (no action talk only)…Yesterday, Shah Alam MP gave quite a good and diplomatic view on the rationale of distributing the profits from Petronas back to the Rakyat. And although opposition did not win in the voting, it was great how you guys stood up for the whole thing…good work..you deserve our full support.
The Mandate has been given. The Rakyat has spoken via the votes. Now it must be PKR that works. Leads and sets the pace for a new Malaysia that we all, every one irregardless of race and religion can truly say, this is our country, we are proud of it because we have all contributed to its growth and development. All of us. Corruption has to go, Keadilan must have no part of it, not a “no hint” which means it is swept under the carpet but really effusively nothing to do with it. If the Scandinavian countries such as Sweden and Finland can achieve the transparency and honest governance and New Zealand and Australia, why not Malaysia? Come on PKR, all the way or no way!
Continue the fight for justice and fairness for all.
YB Tian Chua,
We are continue hoping PKR lead the PR to another success.
Those Sabah and Sarawak MP can formulate the strategic alliance and working with PR to control the Federal.
Personally I think Pak Lah is a good person. however a good person doesn’t mean a efficient leader for the year to come.
Wan Azizah and your team can build a transparent governing at the Federal level; as well as to reduce fund wastage and corruption.
So, strengthen the PR and take a bigger roles.
