Indecent Act
Jul 9th, 2008 by Tian
So much talk on the indecent act at the Sunday PROTES rally. The slip during the performance gave the apologist press a filed day to condemn the organizer of the rally.
The government seems to have missed the big picture. There was a day-long gathering with all the speeches and chanting expressing objection to the fuel price hike.
Millions of people suffer as a result of the irresponsible decision of the Cabinet. The message of the rally is the people’s rejection of the hike. However, the government chose to focus on the artist’s buttock.
Unfortunately this is the sad state of Malaysian politics. The nation is in a dangerous crisis: on the economic front, we are entering into hyper-inflation, stagflation, recession and so on. On the political front, we have a prime minister who has lost confidence of his own colleagues in BN, and a deputy prime minister entangled in scandal linked to a hideous murder.
While the ruling elites are interlocked in a bitter power struggle, public attention is now diverted to another frame-up against Anwar Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, in parliament yesterday (8 July), Bung Mokthar representing the BN backbenchers to show their appreciation for good taste and decency:
Obscene gestures
OBSCENE GESTURES
You missed the point also Tian.
Even PAS and PSM condemned what happened and wanted the world to know. How can you blame the press for reporting that?
Why can’t you just admit that the organiser is partly to blame and move on?
Stop blaming the press like how gov’t blame bloggers.
A friend
Bung Mokhtar should be di Buang parlimen.
What a useless bum. I hope his poor constituents had the opportunity to see the goon who is representing them.
If we all take a step back and look at all that is in front of us with a fresh pair of eyes (or glasses, as it is for most of us..) with a non-partisan bias, we cannot deny that there are cracks on both sides, BN and PR alike…Er, let me rephrase that; the cracks for BN is more like the abyss of hell..
But PR must also not adopt the ‘ostrich’ attitude…do not portray arrogance as the overwhelming support for PR as evident from the recent elections stems fundamentally from the rakyat’s cry for change from BN…PR represents a hope for a better future..It could well be anybody or any party as long as it is not BN…the rakyat just want a change. The strong mandate given to PR must be reciprocated with concrete deliverables…trust and respect must be earned! No doubt DSAI is cornered to defend his own problems but collectively, PR is not about him alone. There are other PR leaders whom the rakyat voted in for who they are for example Lim Guan Eng, Karpal Singh, Fong Po Kuan and of course your goodself and your PKR compatriots. Lately, it seemed that PR, in particular PKR, are so immersed with DSAI’s problems that it risk sending out the wrong message that DSAI is more important than the devastating economic problems faced by the rakyat.
Nathaniel Tan wrote quite an insightful piece on his blog regarding why people should not give up on politics and why it is important to ensure the right person to be PM. However, such seemingly high and mighty political sophistication and idealism is meaningless when one is hungry and jobless with bills to pay.
I remain a loyal non-supporter of BN…but I would also like to see PR proving their true calibre in leading the country as outstanding professionals in terms of economics, social, political and the whole works. Bear in mind when you do come into power, you will be in the shoes of the BN ministers now hence you guys must be ready to represent Malaysia to the world…as the Trade minister, the Foreign minister, the Finance minister, etc, etc…Can we see more of that sort of calibre please from all the PR leaders..
Hello YB,
Today, I met one of your supporters who voted for you. Read here: http://takenotetakeheart.blogspot.com/2008/07/i-saw-tun-siti-hasmah-ukmsc.html
We need more MPs like you who fight for the rakyat.
what i can’t understand is .. since this Bung Mokthar is such a liability even in BN and is such a prick in Dewan Rakyat and is no gentleman not to mention worse than a ‘monkey’… or as Karpal Singh was call him ‘Big-Foot’.. why still maintain him. instead BN even gave him a position as Deputy Chairman of BBC .. i am sure there are better BN MPs than him .. who can be a wee bit better than him instead they just maintain him. i dont understand at all - and this just shows the mentality of the BN and its mgmt .. pucuk pimpinan. i cant tolerate this character .. NEVER and he is such a disgrace to humanity .. please …explain to me why is this Bung Mokthar still in Parliament !!! please … please !!!
I found out the meaning of ‘BUNG’ and couldn’t help but to post abt his indecent act after reading abt him reading ‘Bung Mokhtar gets off scott free with making indecent gesture’ in The Sun.
