The closing speeches of our 2008 Congress began with my speech at about 15:00hr.
In my speech, I emphasized that the people put high hope on us, they demand a change of government, the party has an obligation to carry out. The people’s dream will certainly come true.
By our name, Parti Keadilan Rakyat is a party of reforms, of justice and of the people.
Because we are a party of reforms, we constantly demand for reformasi (of the system) and undergoing reformasi (internally). Every annual meeting since our first inception, we changed according to the demands of time.
As KeADILan, our party is guided by the principles of justice (keadilan). For that, we are obliged to fight a equitable access to economic distribution. We champion a new politics that differentiated us from politics of quota by BN. For BN, multiracial politics is about allocation of quota of ethnic representation. Respective ethnic representatives speaks for their own ethnic interests.
On the other hand, for us in KeADILan, issues have no ethnicity. As we have witnessed in this Congress, Malay delegates spoke on the plight of Chinese and Indian schools. Non-Malay defended the common national foundation such as language and royal institution. Poverty among indigenous Sabah and Sarawak is the concern of all in the Peninsula.
Thus our commitment to 9-11 is a solemn pledge to rectify the wrongs, the marginalization and oppression, experienced by any communities including those in East Malaysia.
Above all, we are a party of the people.
The people are our greatest asset: they are our strength and power. Our power comes from the people, and power to the people.
I also delivered a warning to those who are trying to resist change. Those corrupted who risk losing all their wealth and position are now actively plotting to derail the advance of the people. If they ever think that isolating Anwar or removing Anwar would extinguish the struggle, we will prove them wrong.
They should not forget, for the last ten years of the party’s struggle, Anwar was not physically present. Yet we not only survived, but emerged as a formidable political force in Malaysia.
This is due to the strength of the people. We owed it to our activists who sacrificed and contributed selflessly. They were not chosen by Anwar into this struggle, it is them who chose Anwar as the voice and icon of the struggle!
Other leaders who delivered closing speeches before Anwar were: Saifuddin Nasution, Fuziah Salleh, Gobalakrishnan, Christina Liew, Mustafa Kamil Ayub, Azmin Ali, Sallehuddin Hashim, Dr Syed Husin Ali and President Dr Wan Azizah.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat National Congress declared closed at about 19:00hr (30 Nov) after Anwar Ibrahim delivered his final winging-up speech.
The 2-day Congress ended with a very spirited note. Members and activists attended the Congress are now fully charged and ready to conquer the next frontiers.

That was the best performance by the PKR leaders beside the delivery during MALAM PERdana. I am convinced now and success will come soon. Will register as member soon. Fantastic!!! let us trash BN and UMNO. If you do not one to do it then I will do it alone my way.
Remember guerrilla warfare, it is the people’s war, it needs no bases, it will be hit and run. The end state is the downfall of BN and the demise of UMNO.
let’s put words into actions.
BTW, now a day we seldom see those elected rep on the ground. these people used to be at almost all the events organised in & around kl.
Tian,
Reformasi is just slogan for me.
What is PKR’s vision for our beloved country?
If there is one, it should be articulated, we the rakyat should be duly informed. If it is noble and far-sighted, I’m sure the bulk of the rakyat will also mobilise its resources too, to help realise the vision.
Cheers!
