I took the opportunity of Christmas to visit Churches around Batu:
I was accompanied by Steven, his brother Philip, and our division committee member Syed Harun. We started our tour at about 18:30. We first dropped off some boxes of daily necessities to Mrs Marry at Sentul Pasar. Then we joined a service by Tamil Church in Jalan Ipoh:

Rev David received me at the Church service. I was also invited to give a short speech. I said to the congregation that the arrival of baby Christ 2000 years ago brought us new hope. With this new hope, we still need to struggle to realize God’s aspiration, and to work hard to build a just world.
At about 21:30hr, we went over to the Catholic Church of the Risen Christ at Batu 3 ¾ Jalan Ipoh. There I also met Teresa Kok’s parents, who live nearby.
After the Risen Chirst, we went to visit another Catholic Church at Sentul, St Joseph at Sentul Pasar. St Joseph is one of the oldest church in Kuala Lumpur. The church was establish no less than 80 years.
The midnight mass at St Jospeh was attended by not less than a thousand people. Most of new protestant churches practice a simpler rites of worship nowadays, but the Catholic church has preserved its rich traditional ceremony.
Last year I attended the mass at St Jospeh, except I was not an MP then. At about 23:30hr, we had to leave to join another service at St James Anglican Church.
St James is another historical heritage of Sentul. The church is probably more than 60 years old, although the building had been renovated to accommodate growing demands.
At St James Church.
I was asked to deliver a speech at St James at the end of the Mass.

The next day, Christmas day, I attended the morning service at Grace Methodist Church in Sentul:
I hope you had a happy and peaceful Christmas in 2008 and I wish you all the very best for the New Year 2009!
