I really don’t feel like writing much about the latest conspiracy. I must admit it is indeed a distraction from our struggle.
However, I am an optimist who have deep faith on the Rakyat (people). People can see through a lousy plot easily. Our struggle for change must go on. The battle now is not about […]

Fitnah: take two

When Hollywood did poorly in box office, its producer made “Superman 2″.
I was not surprised with the vicious attack from the BN regime. The BN guys are sore losers, thus we have anticipated a massive crackdown against our democratic movement.
The conspirators should be reprimanded for lacking creativity. These guys are too lazy and did not […]

Licence to kill

In answering question from PAS Padang Terap MP Nasir Zakaria, Deputy Minister of Education Idris Haron said that academic standard of Malaysian universities is not as bad as the opposition described. When Nazir tried to interject, the Deputy Minister responded rudely. A debate broke out between both sides. Deputy Minister Idris shouted a Tamil word […]

Government declared that it is a win-win judgement for Pulau Batu Puteh/Pedra Branca.
How is it win-win? The ICJ ruled that the main island legitimately belonged to Singapore. Malaysia only given two pieces of coral rocks. Where is our “win”?
In fact we have ‘lost’ the islet long before the ICJ ruling:
First, Umno led Alliance Government requested […]

Where Najib stands?

Dr Mahathir’s resignation has been accepted by Umno Supreme Council on 22 May. Supporters of PM Abdullah described Mahathir as the “thorn in the flesh” (duri dalam daging).
In fact, many Umno leaders in the pro-Abdullah camp are glad that Mahathir’s departure has strengthened the position of the PM and President. Members of the Supreme Council […]

A reader wrote to me last week (15 May). His comment was on RTM coverage on parliament session. His view should be taken into consideration by the Information Minister.
The following is his letter (edited):
Dear YB Tian,
…I am new to your blog. I have visited other more popular blogs…but most of them seem to be very […]

Mukhriz deserts Mahathir

As I predicted, not even Mukhriz would follow Mahathir to quit Umno.
During his announcement of resigning from Umno, Mahathir urged other members to take similar action. Besides veteran Sanusi, no one else followed Mahathir’s footstep.
His son, Mukhriz insists that he will stay in Umno. This is consistent to the tradition of Umno: Hishamuddin Hussein Onn […]

I was quoted in a Reuter report on Dr Mahathir’s resignation from Umno:
“He has to fight to defend his legacy, he has to fight against UMNO’s attempts to erode his credibility,” said Tian Chua, a leader of the opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) led by former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim. …
In my […]

Dr Mahathir announced quiting Umno at 12:35hr today (19 May). This fulfilled the prophesy that all Umno presidents (except Tun Abdul Razak) left the party.
This is definitely a calculated move. Mahathir has reached his end of the road. Mahathir’s credibility has been steadily eroded by the VK Lingam investigation.
I believe that Mahathir is feeling […]

Deterrence

In my delivery of speech during the debate of the Royal Address (I spoke on 13 May), I lashed out at a series of failures of the Defence Minister.
I was particularly upset with the continuous sacrifice of lives in the National Service Training Program. I blamed this on the ambition of the Minister who wanted […]
